Default Bye Glenn Tilton??

From UA press release:

On Thursday in Washington, D.C., the BOD of the Air Transport Association of America(ATA) the industry trade organization that represents the leading U.S. airlines, unanimously elected Glenn Tilton as chairman of the ATA Board of Directors. He will serve a two-year term.

"Glenn has proven time and again his strong leadership ability during the most tumultuous of times," said ATA President and CEO James C. May. "Under Glenn’s chairmanship, ATA will work vigorously with the new administration and Congress on a number of aviation priorities, including air traffic modernization, energy policy and the implementation of fair and practical environmental protection measures."

Saw this on a website and decided to see what pilots say. Also, heard UAL employees were not suppose to post anything on the net cause of court issues?

Well this just means that the ATA will advocate getting rid of jetbridges at the terminals, going back to the radial engined transports as they burn less fuel and are more efficient, compel men to wear fedoras while boarding, etc.

Glenn is a buffoon and its amazing the ATA doesn't see this.

If I remember correctly, Glenn's got quite a few activities outside of UAL. None of them have kept him from leaving the company as yet.

I know, I know. Sorry to disappoint everyone.

In my opinion, Glen Tilton has proven to be one of the most inept managers that any airline has ever had as a CEO. Period. Where do we start ? Lack of ability to motivate the stakeholders, hedging fuel at $130+ a barrel when the current price is around $50.00/barrel, management choices for Sr. flight ops management that border on insane choices of proven incompetent managers at other airlines or at ALPA, etc., etc.

I believe he will prove to be a compete failure as a corporate officer. I would say "leader" but Glen Tilton has never lead anyone to do anything.

Just my 0.2376 cents worth, based on Friday's market close....originally two cents.

Y'all have a Good Day Mates !

How do ya figure? He raped the employees to the delight of obese bankruptcy lawyers (that I saw on TV say he was worth every penny he has received...) and has managed to keep his paycheck in the millions. The only guy out there that has more yards rushing is Stephen Wolf... and he's been retired for a few years... Inept... maybe at running an airline, but at being a manager... genius.

I've always wondered how airlines can continually hire such INEPT management (not all, but most), watch them ruin everyones retirement, benefits, pay, the company, etc., and then turn around and get ANOTHER job at another carrier!!!! I guess we have signs on our headquarters buildings that say, "gullible suckers looking for disasterous leadership....apply within and we'll reward you handsomely for screwing us even more". How and more importantly, WHY, does this keep happening?

True. Word is they're not even supposed to talk about the ruling unless it's in a professional manner, if at all.

Please define professional. Is that like professional escort? Or like the professionals on Wall Street or in Congress. I have something I would like to give Tilton but I am not sure its professional...........

It's a sliding scale. Seriously, though, I think that was UAL-ALPA's verbiage.

Why does this keep happening?

Well think about who's running the show. When airlines were run by pilots and people who came up through the customer service ranks...Think Juan Trippe, Frank Borman, Robert Six what did those guys love...Airplanes, bigger and bigger airplane, lots of fancy customer service, and new routes to every place imaginable. This mentality was driven out of town with deregulation.

Today who runs airlines, accountants, bank executives, financiers, stock analysts. In fact these are the people now at the head of most american big business. What do these people love....Money! Fact is they don't care about employees, they don't care about passengers, customer service, or the product. They care about stock prices, EETCs, hedge funds, and the people that manage these instruments. They care about how to convert your labour and benefits, into more captial for themselves and their cohorts. They care that their customers can be pushed just shy of the tipping point, while extracting every last dime from them just up to the point they say, " No More"!

How many times have you heard people say the CEOs job is to "protect shareholders value"! It's said so often now people just accept that statement as true! Who are the real shareholders? Not little Mrs. Burns down the street. She may have some pittence in the company as a result of a now worthless 401K, given to her in exchange for the guaranteed pension she was once promised. No the shareholders are large insurance firms, and managed funds, Banks, and other financial institutions. These are inanimate objects things without souls and fed daily by the beastly creatures that serve them, the modern American CEOs who exchange their souls to satisfy this unquenchable greed.
