Sad to hear a 62 year old ex-Marine, an FO for Jet Airlines, was the target here. That's a tough position to be in - I can only hope that he had a great career in the US till 60, cashed out his retirement, and then choose to continue to fly, rather than needing to keep going b/c he, like most others, lost either his job or his retirement though the bankruptcies and financial difficulties most of our employers have seen in the last decade.

It's a tough industry to be in right now, and its unfortunate to see something like this; both for the individual involved, as well as the image it brings to our profession.

Great another Professional Pilot making us all look like drunks. While at the airline I could not go a week without some passenger asking if we had been drinking. Lock him up there is no excuse for that period.

Stupid, but I don't feel sorry for him. Many pilots have partied too hard and took the manly way out "Hi, Scheduling? I'm sick. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow" <click>. Any pilot who drinks and flies will not have my sympathy. Too bad those younger crew members didn't help him do the right thing.

IF guilty I would agree, but you guys realize that this report comes from the Sun which is about one step above above the National Enquirer in journalistic integrity (only because they do bikini stories instead of Bigfoot).
