Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't you only been a Continental Pilot for only 10 1/2 years?
I applaud those who came to CAL, decided they didn't care for the crummy pay and benefits that you voted yes for, and moved on. Nothing wrong with that at all and that's from someone who has over 21 years at CAL for real. |
Apologies to the rest of the forum but as you can see, EWR and I don't see eye to eye. He believes management will always do whats right and our hardcore Union types will hurt his beloved CAL.
Oh the humanity. |
It seems belittling fellow pilots on public forums is cool to some pilots on this forum. They believe if you like working for your company and try to do a good job that you're a "suck up" and disgrace to pilots everywhere. They feel sending PM's and calling you names in the PM is "professional". It's apparent one of my fellow pilots believes he "knows" my thoughts and actions better than I do. This individual has been at odds with me and all my posts since I joined this forum. This individual calls himself a "diehard unionist", yet when he voted against what the union asked us to SUPPORT, and I voted FOR it, then I am the problem. Kind of hypocritical if you ask me. I enjoy my company and welcome those who want to come to CAL. I believe you'll enjoy it here. I'm sorry that unfortunately you'll have to put up with disgruntled pilots like this person (whoever he may be) who will NEVER be happy with ANYTHING/ANYONE at CAL. CAL IS a great company, and regardless of what some have said, is a top company to have a career with. ALL companies have their problems and so does CAL, but overall, it has a great bunch of folks to work with and for.

That's all for me as I won't waste my time on people who suck up to our management and call me a traitor for wanting a better contract. |

Oops......my bad. I guess Pan Am Express, Trans World Express, Express One and Express Jet aren't/weren't considered "airlines" or part of the industry. Wow...you're really at the top of your game, aren't you? I guess you're pretty happy with the "crummy pay and benefits" that I voted "yes" on for you 21 years ago (even though I wasn't in the industry or at CAL right?) otherwise you'd have made a "smart" decision and LEFT................... You seem to have ALL the answers, unfortunately, MOST OF THEM are wrong.

And, why did you leave those "airlines"?

CAL is a good airline, there's no doubt. As far as the customer service and especially our international product, I think we're number one as far as legacy carriers go. We've got a young fleet, and we're getting new NG 737's every few weeks - heck, I just flew a 737-900ER on my last pairing that was probably 5 days old.
However, our current contract DOES blow. And management ain't going to throw us any bones while negotiating our next contract. So, as far as the airline itself - it really is a very strong company with a healty, fuel effecient, young fleet. As far as work rules and compensation, I'd say it's pretty darn near the bottom - and certainly not reflective on the solid performance and customer service the airline as a whole provides to it's customer. There certainly needs to be a much better balance. |

Well, let's see..........got furloughed from Pan Am Express and they went out of business, got picked up by TWE and furloughed again but they too are out of business. Then got on with Express One and got furloughed AGAIN, and they are out of business.................should I continue???? I guess you probably think Eastern is still flying too?
Actually, TWE is not out of business. They are TransStates Airlines now & are operating as United Express, UsAir Express, & AA Connection. ;) |

Sure seems the airlines can't cut a break for the past seven or eight years though, doesn't it? Now that oil is down, no one can afford to fly us................ :( |
