Also the demographics of the ANC base "300" is ~100 relatively junior SO's, ~70 "older" pilots on LTS, and the balance between very senior Captains and F/O's. quote] I am sure someone will corect me if I am wrong, but I seem to remember a handfull of +65 SO, that won't have a chair when the music stops. In my own little world, I came very close to getting displaced in July, only to see the numbe rof people below me on the bus grow in Aug. Not expected, but very grateful! My pre-merger "expectations" were just to hold onto the very humble position I was currently in. Certinally looks promising now. |

According to our contract admin folks at ALPA anyone who is displaced prior to SOC will not have a freeze.
Tell him we miss his posts. |

So last year i bid to the bus and incurred a seat lock for 2 years and now i'm getting displaced next month back to the -9, does my freeze go away post SOC? How does the Pay protection work post SOC then? As of now i'm protected on the bus for 36 months post dcc but if i'm free to bid something else post SOC will i be forced to bid it to keep my pay protection?

As I was told if you are displaced prior to SOC you will not have a freeze. As for pay protection as long as you bid the highest paying position you can hold you will pay protected. This will occur until you are returned, 36 months pass, or someone junior to you bids your old displaced position.

Thats what i was wondering, So i wouldnt be forced to bid a DAL bird then to keep my Bus rate? Hypothetically speaking, lets say i cant hold the bus come SOC but i can hold the 737 which pays higher than the bus, would i be forced to bid that in order to keep from dropping back to DC9 pay?
If what NWA320 is saying is true, and you have to bid the highest paying position you can hold to be pay protected, don't forget that the highest paying position that many of you can hold is 747-200 s/o. S/O pay is higher than all categories up to the 767 ER. As of 1/1/09... 747 S/O..............$118.13 per hour 767 F/O ER .........$114.73 per hour (Yes, 747 s/o's make more than 767/757 F/O's. It's been that way for a long time on the NWA side, but those days are coming to an end.) I know the position is going away, but if it is still biddable if and when you get bumped, I would hate to see you lose pay protection over an oversite like that. You would think the union would post some warnings for us in these turbulent times. Like maybe an AE strategy guide instead of 7 emails to tell me when my $10 bonus is going to be paid out. New K Now |

whats interesting is that 2nd year pay on the panel is less than bus pay but 3rd year is more than the bus.
Ok, so all you N-DAL'ers with more than 3-5 years on the property, watch out!! :D Super, I'm guessing that that is not you? :o New K Now |

Seems to me that tha whole thing was done with this whole pay protection thing in mind and it looks like the -200 s/o rate doesn't jump above 75/76 pay until the 5th year.

What got a lot of people here on the DAL-S side of things was that they could have held the ER in NYC so pay protection was moot except for the very junior folks that were hired in the last few months of hiring.
