actually, it can't.

when S5 did CLE-SLC, they could just barely make it in the 170 with required reserves. i've been told by more than a couple captains & check airmen that flew those legs that there were too many diversions due to guys hitting higher than forecast winds and not being able to make it. The 175 is the same plane, just longer and a higher ZFW.

CPZ has their 175 modded to ARs though...

Huh? The 90 can't make the east coast from SLC, but an 88 can do ATL-LAX and a CR9 can do SLC-YYZ-SLC?

The 88 can't do ATL-LAX and, besides, nobody would fly on it if it could. Same for the CR9. Pax are wising up to the lack of legroom thing. And rightly so.

I think the RJ FO was being a wise ass.

How long is the drive from BOS to New York?

Drive your looking to block out 4hrs, but plan on alot of traffic in southwestern CT and into NYC. Best bet is to take Delta/UsAir Shuttle, and a few regionals operate that route to JFK. \

Speaking bout the New Delta bases, anyone think Tokyo would be a base or Amsterdam being that it was a NWA hub?, that will pretty interesting

Jetblue to JFK is good. Frequency can be an issue. Not like BOS LGA..

With our KLM/Air France code share, an Amsterdam hub would be very unlikely. As for Narita(Tokyo), the future Seattle 757/76 base will take care of the deadheading issues that we had with the 757 hub in Narita.

Yes it can do ATL-LAX and was scheduled to do so as the last flight out of ATL about a year and a half ago as flt 1423. Obviously, pax flew on it. Do you know how many ORD west coast flights AA ops on the MD-80? People only care how much their ticket costs...have you forgotten? Besides, DL's MD-88's are no more lacking legroom than any other mainline aircraft in the fleet. The "RJ F/O" who couldn't possibly be knowledgeable about anything because he's an "RJ F/O" doesn't speak out of ignorance.

I haven't done it, true. I've never done more than 1300 miles, but I've never had a flight at max weight in the CP 175. Only carrying 76 people in a 88 seat jet helps, having the extra 4,000lbs of the AR helps. Embraer says it can do 2000 miles full with reserves and 100 mile alternate, that's what I was referencing.
