If you like to fly, you will love the DC-9. You have to make the airplane go when you want it to go.

If you like to be flown around, you will hate the DC-9. The only thing "Auto" on it are the spoilers. (The autopilot isn't even really "auto.")

For me, it's a fun airplane and I like the face the younger jumpseaters have when they ride up front for the first time. One word: AWE. (Or, is that fear?) :D

Most are like "Dude! How do you know where you're going?":D

I'm an old dude New and I don't want to go back to the round dial shiznit. I've been there and I like technology. Its fun, embrace it. :D

I heard that coach drivers were happy with their lot until they tried that new fangled invention called the horseless carriage.

On FI, someone mentions opening a LAX dc9 base? ACL?? anyone? It brings tears of joy in my eye...

With the LA arrivals, would the DC9's fit into the traffic mix there? An airplane without area navigation capability is a pretty rare type of cat in today's airspace.

No no no. Don't get me wrong. I can (could) work fancy fingers with the FMC with the best of them and switch you from the MITTS to the CIVET then back again and have the line drawn into the next fix in the blink of an eye. But, I can also apreciate flying a classic airplane that won't be around forever (But, I think she's trying).

I like technology too, and will again happily sit behind any glass Boeing aircraft, when the time is right. The old Douglass is not that bad though. (The DC-10 was sweet, too) :)

Ummm...turn right heading 350....intercept the CIVET arrival, descend via the CIVET arrival. Contact LA center on...............

Not that hard really.

Sorry for being so Deltoishly ignorant here ;) but I'm pretty sure that in the past y'all had a no-furough clause which I guess didn't apply in the post 9/11 world, correct? So is that clause all history now? Or am I thinking of a different airline and if so which one is it?
