Hi ACL,

I hope this was a joke. There are at least 2 empty bays available in MSP. With the pull down of the -200s, there will be at least 2 more available in the near term.

When I got hired, they were all FULL, and running 24/7, and they were considering extending the "short wing".

FWIW, I was told they had the visual system apart because without the sim being powered (IE fans), dust settles on the screen for the visuals, and it's a PITA to clean.

Yes, buddy it was a joke!

As for the 200 spots. Who knows we still have a few 732 and L15 sims sitting around down here in ATL. It has been at least half a decade since we have used those. Now the MD-11 sim does get used by the cargo guys.

Since we have used them. The 732 sim was being used during my last recurrent. Somebody's buying the sim time.

The 732 yes, but not the L15. ATA was the last operator, I think.

Sounds like the precursor to cancelling the orders for 787-8. I am guessing they will wait until after SOC because they want SOC to go as smoothly as possible without making any group mad.

Next comes the battle over "replacement aircraft."

I wonder how much the assessments will be...

Actually that shouldn't be too much of a battle, though I'm sure there will still be an arbitration over that. When DAL cancels the 787 and says they are ordering 777 to replace the 787 then logically those 777 will go to FNWA pilots.

As long as they are going to be mainline a/c, we could order the 150 remaining DC8s operating for all I care. Just bring it to mainline!

I know one of the MEM FSDO Inspectors who had a lot of time on the Tristar and he was asked by the FAA to come to DAL and get current again on it so he could be the main Examiner on Tristar rides in the US. I told him if he came I had to go in the sim with him since that will be the closest Tristar flying this man will ever see.

The assessments have already been levied, but I doubt there will be a "battle over replacement aircraft", DAL N will be able to bid the 767er after SOC.:D

What makes you think the 777 is the "replacement " aircraft for a 787-8?

It could be a future 787-9 order with delivery dates in 2015, or a super premium 767-ER with winglets.:D

DAL has premerger orders for 31 777s, so even if you could convince the arbitrators that the 777 LR is a replacement for a much less capable 787-8, which has never flown, you'd still be at the back of a long line of premerger non replacement 777s. My guess is about 5 years after SOC before you can bid the 777.

I guess someone had to start barking up that tree...

Bingo. Plus, the 732 sim is more fun to horse around in than the others :p
