Politics and Ignorance with Air France 447??
#11
of course there are politics involved. who ever is at fault not only will have to pay the resulting lawsuits---all 230+ of them. Also they have to pay for one of the most expensive recovery/investigations of all time. Its always about the money.

Why do we keep hearing that the problem with the 447 most likely will never be found, when it is becoming obvious what the cause is (cough cough ... Known faulty design of the A330's ADIRU)?? Also, why does the media seem completely ignore to even a reference to the Quantas Flight(s) of 72 (or 71 for that matter), which would seem extremely relevant to the 447 investigation??
Perhaps that is why the word Ignorance is in the Title of this thread?

No typos
There are no typos but I did spot an omitted word, tsk tsk. In the 3rd paragraph, first line there is a missing "about", i.e. caring <about> the safety. Even that phrasing is somewhat stilted. This is not a journalist who speaks (writes) native English.

Didn't a 777 also have a pushover event in Austrailia as well?

I guess my question is this.... Does economics matter more than our butts in the seats of these complex (and sometimes glitch prone) contraptions, or would a temporary grounding just be too economically painful for Airbus to bear??

As for the economics, yes, it's cheaper to play the risk management game and keep the A-300 series flying than ground the entire family of aircraft to fix a design flaw. When we get to the point that too many people have been killed by a design flaw or series of flaws, action will be taken. Until then, it's the cost of doing business. Tragic but true.
