Default Major Airlines vs. CAP & TRADE

I worry about 'cap and trade's impact on our profession.

Acid rain, sulfur dioxide .. bad stuff, I agree.

But carbon dioxide??? Seriously???

Every living organism exhales carbon dioxide.

This legislation looks to negatively impact any industry which uses fossil fuels. Being that none of your engines yet run on electricity, that would include everyone on this forum. I suggest you let your opinion be known to your appropriate congressional representative.

It's a little late to be worrying about the house. It passed by, I believe, less than 15 votes. Time to write your senators.

Kind of interesting but if you think of the atmosphere as a football field, CO2 would make up about 3 inches of the field length. I just found that interesting.

Unless your electricity comes from hydro or a wind mill (about 10% total), it too will be affected.

Actually no. It's even sillier than that as plants (trees, beautiful trees) inhale CO2 for survival. (and exhale oxygen) We're going to ruin our economy to put a cap on how much "plant food" we can emit. Pollution is one thing. This carbon mania will be the end of us, not the carbon itself.

Coal as well. A lot of electricity comes from coal.

If you thought oil speculation was bad for the airlines, just wait til we have a futures market on carbon emissions.
