I js on FL out of PHF/NNW routinely. Gate agents wouldn't talk but heard from one of their pilots when riding to work that TSA agent had asked to see his badge going thru the checkpoint. He offers it on the lanyard and the CA simply holds it up on his neck, thus causing some confrontation and disagreement. Stupid A$$ rule anyways, in the plastic, versus on a lanyard versus holding the actual ID--regardless, their ID's aren't in plastic sleeves, the are clipped onto their lanyards so you can't remove it anyways, it maes no difference. Eitherway, some further confrontation at the xray. CA gets his stuff off the trays at the end and walking away says something along the lines of, "you guys are a bunch of a$$ clowns" and walks to the jet. Granted I thought that was funny as hell too, however the TSA folk didn't find it as humorous as every pilot on this board does because its true.
Anyhow, just thought i'd help steer the thread drift back on course.... |

Can you explain this a bit more? Are you saying TSA is spying on crews to see if we are doing our walkarounds? Or are you sayng something else? And where are you gettng this info from?

He decided to argue with me on the point. This was probably over a year ago. It's not the first case I've heard of. Lets not forget them breaking Eagle's planes tyring to see if they were "secure".
Be polite, and bite your cheek... for a pi$$ing contest with these displaced people from the Star Wars Cafe will surely lead to no good. |
Did they lose the plot? I thought the reason for their existence was to protect us from security risks not to harass us. They've gone from keeping the bad guys out to taking away our bottled water, smelling our breath, making sure we don't offend them and monitoring our preflight checks....What gives? I'm done in three years (age 60) and because of the hassles I will fly as least often that I can. Since TSA came on stream I've always thought that they were there to make life difficult for crew.

It was probably an honest mistake, Duck. I'm sure he thought you were there to service the lav.:) |
