Default BA207 LHR - MIA 20th July 2009

I am flying as a pax on this flight next week and have tracked the flight each day using Flightaware. Flight time has been between 8:14 - 8:50 but today it was 10:20. Having seen the log, it appears the flight turned back at 2:07pm Eastern time and then resumed course: FlightAware > Live Flight Tracker > Track Log > BAW207 > 20-Jul-2009 > EGLL-KMIA

Could someone please explain as to why?

Many thanks,

Elliot

I don't think there are any British Airways pilots on this board, but hope someone is able to answer your question.

PPrune is a better area to have that question answered.

It looks like that website is incorrect, the flight never turned around at all. Flightstats.com shows that it left the gate late so it arrived late. This is substantiated by the postion fixes shown. If it was at 68.05 degrees west longitude at 1:38 pm EDT, there is no way that it could have flown all the way back to 60 degrees west longitude by 2:07 p.m., and then back to 72W by 2:21pm, since it had previously taken 54 minutes to fly from 60W to 68.05 W.

What probably happened was that the radio operator entered their 60W postion report into the computer as they passed 70W, which isn't a big deal as it looks like they were talking to New York and Miami centers, who have radar.

Hope that you have a great time there!

Elliot,

Long Haul's answer sounds logical. That said, acl65pilot's lead is a good one. There is a fairly comprehensive Spotter's Fourm on PPRuNe and a good site for research. In fact, I came across APC by way of PPRuNe. Here's a link for you to bookmark: http://www.pprune.org/

It's owned by the same organization as APC so the site layout is very similar as it is here on APC. You'll need to register to post of course, and bear in mind, you may get a solid answer or a little newbie ribbing, but in my experience, most all posters (on the Spotter's Forum) are knowledgeable and very helpful.

Oh, and be sure to mention my name to get a 10% discount.

Enjoy your journey, and welcome to APC as well.
