When your work is farmed out to someone cheaper, give us a call, we see if we have any sympathy left. I am certain that most of the outlandish, egregious ,childish statements made on this board do not represent any of the pilot groups which these individuals purportedly hail from. |

FP,
Also, just for fun what do you think the integration of the F9/SWA lists should have looked like if it had become a reality? Take a few scenarios like a senior Frontier captain vs. a senior SWA capt or junior FO vs. junior FO. Should a senior F9 captain be right next to a 35 year SWA captain on the seniority list? The Oscar You're killing me with that stuff:) |
I've been reading the posts on this thread for a while and I have to ask.... What the hell are you smoking up there in CO for you F9 guys??? I need some of that!!
You all feel that you were entitled to a relative seniority integration here at Southwest when you were faced with bankruptcy? How long have you guys been around....1994, 1995? And you want your senior captain to be on par with a 1975 captain here at Southwest?? Wanna talk career expectations? Your expectations were on the street looking for another job. Good thing a good ol' RJ outfit came to your rescue. Wait til we see the first E190 with a fuzzy rabbit painted on its tail. Its gonna come... I personally am glad that you all did not come here because I'm sick of your "personal entitlement" attitudes. Plus, I hearing things like you guys denying jumpseats to my fellow Southwest employees? What did we do to deserve that? Make an offer on your company? Remember, we are not management...just cogs in the wheel of an airline. Hope you find some happiness there...things will get messy there in the near future. As for you YX guys...I'm sorry it was such a bad deal. Hopefully things will work out for all of you. Once we start hiring again...throw us an application and we'll happily take you in. We want people who want to be here rather than force someone to come here. Thank God I don't work for Republic! |

Its been said before and I'll say it again: FAPA and Frontier pilots just wasn't all that into you, SWAPA...let it go. |

Number one on the list was not going to jump to number one on your list, and the ratio was left entirely up to SWAPA. Yes there will be 190's painted in F9 colors. There has been zero cases of SWA denied jumpseats. Had there been anything close to this it would have been widely known via both JS committees. We weren't faced with bankruptcy, we were actually already in bankruptcy, hence the auction. Finally, FAPA nor SWAPA killed the deal. Unless SWA came up with several hundred million more dollars, and removed the labor contingency, they didn't stand a chance against RAH and the UCC. Not necessarily the way some would have liked it to end up, but completely out of our hands either way. I hate to cloud your anger and misguidance with facts, but there you go. |

That is ridiculous if F9 is doing this to SWA guys. SWA is one of the best companies to js on, not cool on F9's part. |

Once again, I am amazed that the posters on this thread seem to be predominantly Southwest pilots and wannabes. Guys (and gals) you have a good life at Southwest, go out and enjoy it. |

The only thing I feel 'personally entitled' to, is a union that doesn't bend over for a staple without a fight. I didnt expect DOH, but I never wanted a staple either. Is there any greater example of 'personal entitlement' than a SW pilot who gets on the interent and demands that another company's union justify their actions to him? "FAPA, please explain..." If I would have started a thread titled "SWAPA, please explain..." and went on to repeatedly insist that SWAPA had "sold its pilots down the river" by waiting until the last minute to begin negotioating an agreement they knew would seal or kill the deal, pontificating on how much SWA lost out on because they were "ill prepared for the whole process" (or however that Dallas Morning News quote was worded...) this thread would be into the 80th page by now, with SWAPA pilots telling me to get bent. (a common request it seems... And I already parodied this exact thing on page 2, but nobody seemed to get it...) But I didn't, and neither should you. The bottom line is that FAPA did what's best for Frontier pilots, and they aren't accountable to anyone else IN THE WHOLE WORLD, thus entitling you to nothing Spanky. And the exact same is true for SWAPA, and I dont fault them for it, nor demand an explanation from them. Regardless of whether we agree with the choice, why can't we just all realize that simple fact...? |
As the thread starter, I appreciate the discourse...
Especially from 'zoo...' and the insight from 'phatigued'. My question has been answered and I realize that it wasn't "personal". Both Unions thought that they were doing what was right by their membership under the extreme time constraints that they were forced to negotiate in. The memberships get the advantage of looking-back and second guessing but those guys didn't have the option. Both sides had issues that had to be negotiated and sold to their memberships but no time. DAL and NWA show that it can be done, in time with negotiations prior to closing the deal. USAir and AWA show the opposite. It may be the best that this combination wasn't forced. Good Luck to the F9 guys but keep the YX guys in mind. Cheers PS-Harry, good luck with those 'entitlement' issues. |
