and as usual we will all most likely waste all our energy trying to crucify the other half of the (major/regional) debate, while the media crucifys all pilots. Rough week indeed..., keep on your toes guys....

I'm glad no one was hurt. Stay safe out there guys. There are a ton of distractions for all of us.

Would agree though about ioe as we have a lot of incidents from those.

Yes, that is an extreme example, but I've personnally had it happen. North to South or South to North side is unusual too, bur I've had it quite a few times. Outboard to inboard on the North side seemed to happen all the time at night. Depends on what you are flying, too. Smaller, more agile airplanes tend to get moved around 'cause they probably think it's no big deal, while they leave the heavies alone. Moral of the story is NEVER cross any runway, even when you're cleared across, without LOOKING, even if you have to open the clearview and stick your head out in the rain to see the departure end.

Now, having said all that, I'll probably go out and have a "runway incursion" this afternoon.:)

I'd say if the city and the fed already have spent $83 million bucks to prevent it, they know there's a problem. Back to the drawing board, I guess. Although that said, I suppose the backup alarm did work as intended.

Thank goodness we live in a climate that says "learn what caused mistakes, then build systems to avoid future repeats" instead of one that says "just fire the pilots".

You won't find the usual suspects calling for their heads because it doesn't fit their template. I really think that what is happening in our industry is a mirror of what is happening nationally. There is a generational battle going on between the Generation ME who have been given everything without really earning it (by us as parents I am sad to say). Now they have run into economic stagnation and their path to nirvana has been interrupted so they blame their elders. They want what they don't have and they want it now. See Glenn Beck's show last night for contextual reference.

This is not a political reference, wrong place wrong time. It is just an illustration of what I believe is a wider problem. In this time of shrinking economic pie the battle for scarce resources is going to be bitter.

Let's all adhere to principle of innocent until proven guilty with regards to any infraction or incident. Like Chairman Moak said, let's hope that the NTSB does too.

Thats actually pretty funny...

They missed the "Hold Short" instructions because they were looking at pictures of Frontier aircraft and wondering when they were going to start training on the Airbus. The captain was saying his entire two years at RAH should put him in the top third of bidding while the F/O was saying he is tired of being so junior after six months. Conflicts of life I guess.

Which generation ME are you referring to? The lucky ones are generation X'ers who get sandwiched by the ME's(baby boomers and Generation Y's). Talk about getting it from both ends. These are the guys who were screwed by baby Boomer's (age 65) and are being replaced with the race to the bottom by Y's.

Amen preach it, glad I'm not the only one feeling it in the aft quarters...

It's always someone else's fault. You are always getting screwed. I rest my case.
