New CAL/UAL JS Agreement
 

United and continental jumpseat priority agreement
with the addition of continental airlines into the star alliance
united in conjunction with continental, and alpa have entered
into an agreement that allows for higher jumpseat priority to
each group of pilots. This agreement will become effective on
october 28, 2009.
This agreement is applicable to mainline operations and does not
include the respective express carrier code share flights. On
continental flights, united pilots will be placed in priority
immediately below continental pilots and above their express
partners. For united flights, continental pilots will be
assigned a j3 classification per the omc category guidlines in
our fom and will place them above all uax pilots. Currently, fom
12.20.11 assigns the j3 category to united interns and requires
a cabin seat assignment as well as a meter of authorization.
Continental pilots will not be required to have a cabin seat
assignment nor the meter authorization for jumpseat access.
With all the procedural changes, there may be issues that arise
during implementation. If a continental pilot is encountering a
problem obtaining an omc on united, please contact the fodm for
assistance. Should you encounter a problem on a continental
flight, please contact your jumpseat committee via phone. As
always, it is imperative to verify the credentials of your
cockpit omc's.

I wander if United is going to charge CA pilots $20 to jumpseat on their planes too like they charge their own and regional employees. That OMC is a joke, most of the gate agents don't know how to do it or yesterday the gate agent said that they are required not to give you an OMC ticket if a seat is open in the back. Put when you get your pay stub United has pulled out $20 plus tax out of your little check.

I work for Colgan and I know TSA and Mesa are having the same problem for the last few months. If you're in the United system and your flying on United or any of there express flights they will take $20 plus tax out of your pay check for every leg. I live in IAH and work out of IAD and to keep from being charge I have to fly Delta or American! :mad:

According to XJT's jumpseat committee this is just a proposed idea and not a done deal. I dont see how they could justify this and will definitly hurt my companies commuters out of IAD and ORD. Putting jumpseaters working for another company in front of the people that are working YOUR OWN revenue.

XJT should start giving priority to other UAL Express carriers over CAL pilots just to put this in perspective. The charging for the jumpseat BS is another thing that needs to be fixed.

This needs to be looked at since as a "jumpseater", you are considered a WORKING crewmember. So now we're getting charged to "work"? :confused:

Why the thumbs up jsled? This is just another flip of the bird to regional pilots by ALPA national. Why should United pilots have a higher jumpseat priority than ExpressJet pilots when we serve Continental exclusively? Just another slap in the face by CAL and ALPA. Further proof that to ALPA national, we are merely second class citizens.

Express pilots still enjoy date of hire (at Express) priority as SA3P and SA3V with a seat in the back. So you can be a 2005 hire at Express and trump a 2006 mainline CAL hire for a seat in the back on a Mailnline flight.
