Default Air Tran and Skywest agreement.

Skywest just announced that they are starting 50 seat jet service out of MKE for Airtran.......thought you Airtran guys said this wasn't happening.

Things in MKE are going to get ugly. AirTran is going after Republic and BB will get a real wake-up call after killing the loyality to Midwest.

Didnt Airtran do this a few years ago? It seems to me that I remember seeing 50 seaters for Air Tran in the past.

Perhaps AirTran wants to start heading west?

Yes, Air Wisconsin flew 50 seaters as AirTran jetconnect a few yers ago. Didn't last very long. This flying will be branded flying as SkyWest Airlines with an agreement with AirTran, almost like a codeshare.

Good Luck to SkyWest. Branded flying usually doesn't work well, especially with 50 seaters, but SkyWest might be able to pull this off.

Wonder if DAL is just going to standby and concede MKE to AT in their backyard?

From the way I read the press release, this is not the same as what FL did a few years ago with AWA.

It sounds like Skywest is going to fly those planes as its own operation, assuming all costs and liabilities with FL "codesharing" on those legs. Sure, most pax will be FL customers, but Skywest is running the show. I don't think the planes will be in FL colors.

This is a very interesting development. This is what the future of the regionals may very well look like. It's almost a complete circle, when "commuters" 20 years ago flew under their own colors but codeshared with a legacy partner.

Is this a way by management to get around scope? Future scope will need to include strong "codeshare" language, as well.

I'm sure a lot of people will be watching.

You're missing it......this is airTran lift operated by the SKW brand which is very different from the stand alone IndiAir and ExpressJet ventures. It's no different than what we are already doing for UAL and DAL under our at-risk agreements.

It also puts Skywest in the position of being a competitor with DL, arguably their most important source of revenue. Wonder how that will work out for them.
