Saw that unfold as I was driving by to pick the in-laws up from the airport. It all looked very orderly and by the book. It is always reassuring to see that you can count on nothing but true professionalism from pilots, FAs, ARFF and law enforcement when you need it most. Well done everyone!

Thumbs up

Glad to hear it was handled well. Kudos to all those involved.

Easy Victor!

Great job, all. Wasn't there another evac a couple days ago too? Seems like ACL said something about that.

Was the evac necessary? Often we are 'spring loaded' to dump Pax on taxiways. Injuries normally occur. If the fire was uncontrolled that's one thing, if not probably better to keep them on board. Tough call to make in either case.

Was thinking the same thing.... cargo with smoke pouring out is one thing- I'd be very hesitant about popping the kiddie play slides for an engine fire, though.

So you would take the chance of a re-ignition while you're taxiing to the gate? I would rather be safe than sorry. A couple bumps and bruises would be easy to explain away, not evacuating because it was "only an engine fire" and having something really bad happen is something not so easy to explain.

Just how does one determine if a tail mounted engine is in a "controlled fire"?

Nice job Folks!
