But not to long ago when the hiring was going, at CAL in particular, some had the sentiment that they DIDN'T want to go to CAL because of the SCABS and the overall culture.

When you got hired, I remember reading YOUR posts in particular saying the the scabs really weren't that bad and that everybody at CAL was decent to fly to with.

As of late, since you've been displaced out of the CA's seat after being able to go legacy FO to CA rather quickly (relatively speaking), I've read more than one post where you are anti scab and expressed that they have been a slight detriment to your career overall.

Would it be safe to say the honeymoon going from COEX/Expressjet to CAL is over?

Like I said, I'm not flaming you, just pointing out FACTS.

And YES, I'll NEVER argue that the worst day at a major beats the best day at a regional, that's not the point, just sayin'....
I'm not sure what you are saying. I don't like scabs. That is true. Who would? "They are not that bad?" Of the few that I knew were scabs, some were OK guys and some were not. It is more what they did than who they are. What's your point?

What does my not being CA have to do with this thread? What honeymoon? What facts? Do I regret coming to CAL? NO. I make a lot more and fly a lot less. Why are we comparing Express to CAL in this thread. Let's get back to the topic.

I would argue that any time you enter into contract talks its a union pilot's duty to be prepared for strike.

Strike vote?

If we can't agree, we follow the RLA and get released for a strike. CAL pilots should be prepared mentally for a strike and have 30 days pay minimum saved for one. It could happen in as little as 18 months, but it could also take 5 years.
Or you could be like us at Pinnacle and start your contract negotiations in 2005 and STILL NOT HAVE A NEW CONTRACT WITH NO END IN SIGHT!!

Exactly.

WHO is allowing this ?

The NMB.................crooked as a dog's hind leg. Corporate interests are in the drivers seat and will be for many more years to come. There will be no airline strikes anytime soon.

I'd even bet the few scabs left have even learned their lesson. I have no doubt in the CAL pilots willingness to strike for a contract, if we ever got released.
That contract at Express what did it get those guys? From what I know about it, it only got them what equated to cost of living adjustments and a small increase in per diem. The work rule changes weren't that dramatic that it changed the day to day things over there. So I've been told. Not trying to flame either.

I don't think ALPA really cares if we are ever allowed to strike. If they did, I think you would see more pressure put on Washington.

What I was getting at was that your overall tone has changed in regards to CAL. Seemed as if you were a bit of a cheerleader in the past, your recent posts seem to reflect more the reality of it. IE; crappy contract, having scabs on property, etc.

What do you mean "why are we comparing Express to CAL"?

If only we had the unity to have a nationwide walkout. Just for a day. Yeah, I know that doesn't abide by the RLA.

Does anyone remember the walk on wall street with ALL those CAL drivers?? bookoo pilots in uniform and UNIFORM!! I have flown with some scabs..matter of fact, when I was about two weeks from my furlough date, the capt. on the flight I was j/s to work, was complaining of how much rt. seat time he was banging for time and a half!! I just said thanks. Too bad I was on probation..would have liked to say a lot more.
