International Short haul FO's read this
First Post,
It was brought to my attention that USA first officers flying short haul (2 man crews) internationally are being told that a second class medical (allowed by FAA) is not legal and therefore the aircraft becomes grounded. Additionally some inspectors are enforcing a six month duration for their first class medical even though ICAO allows twelve (their improper interpretation of the USA FAR's) . It is perfectly permissible to operate for twelve months (2 man crews) by the FAA at any age (although I'm not sure about 60 + pilots).
Here's the link. Something to think about for those short haul FO's esp MEX, CAN, Carib etc.
