Default Sen Schumer calls FA a "B-Word"

You stay classy, Senator.

I used to think all these politico types should be forced to fly commercial. Maybe it's not worth it.

Shenanigans: Schumer has a flight to forget - ANNE SCHROEDER MULLINS | POLITICO CLICK

I'd like to meet the captain who had the stones to have this customer removed from the flight for not following a crew members instructions and behaving in an aggressive manner.

Maybe if Sully was the captain? My gosh! The comedy!

Nothing rankles Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) more than talking when it’s frowned upon.

Take, for example, Tuesday morning’s Republican Conference meeting with members and staff.

It appears Rep. David Dreier of California dared to whisper something to Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas. That garnered a strong “shh” from Foxx, complete with a pointed finger admonishing her two colleagues. She then took to the mic and told the crowd it was rude for members and staff to talk.
Not defending Schumer, who in my opinin is a self serving putz. But then again… can anyone name one politician that does not have the following priority??? Themselves, their financial supporters, their backers, their sponsors, their voters, and then if there’s anything left over… their constituents?

And yes, by the way... I'm sure Virginiar Fox... er Foxx (R) is a true "Polly Pureheart"... at heart.

Schumer is a perfect example of the morons we have in DC. The rules, even those of the FAA, don't apply to them. They're "better" than the average passenger and, therefore, shouldn't be expected to have to follow the same rules.

True, but 95% of our pax aren't elected "representatives" to office.

We were sitting at the gate back when no cell phone useage was allowed on an aircraft. Pax was using his cell phone and the flight attendant asked him to either go out on the jetway or turn it off...he refused and she informed me of the issue. Made a PA informing everyone that cell phones were not allowed to be used on board, because of the delay anyone wanting to could go out in the jetway or to the gate area could use their phone if they needed. Again the pax refused to comply, I went back and informed him of the reg, he left his cell phone on and pulled out a US Representative business card and asked if I knew who he was...said it did not matter who you are, you still have to turn if off or go off the aircraft. He complied, later came back and apoligized.

He's use to flying on the lobbyists' corporate jets. He was probably allowed to do it, and can't stand "slumming" on the Shuttle.

There was really an airline out there that didn't allow cell phone use in a parked aircraft with the jetway pulled up to it? Are you sure?

Pardon my stupidity, but I'm wondering what the actual FAA/FCC rulings are that govern cell phone usage on aircraft parked at the ramp. When I flew passengers, there weren't cell phones and Al Gore hadn't even created the internet. Anyway, I'm wondering because although Senator Schumer was out of line with his comment, I've witnessed many times when FA's have been downright ugly and mean-spirited toward their customers. Usually you're told that you can operate a cell phone until the entry door is closed. Why would the crew want people to turn theirs off with the door still opened? Do you think it was a matter of convenience for the crew, because they had a lull in their pre-departure routine, so they thought they'd get it out of the way, or what?

You were given a golden opportunity and blew it. I would have taken his business card, proceeded to the front of the aircraft. Picked up the PA and made the following announcement;

"US Representative so-and-so from X state thinks he/she is above the law and is allowed to put you, your family, and this aircraft in danger by continuing to talk on his/her cell phone. By a show of hands, who believes the US Representative should be removed from the aircraft?"

"I'm sorry Sir or Mam, we're returning to the jetway where you and your bags will be removed from the aircraft."

And if you think I'm kidding, I'm not. I've flown many of these bozos and other VIPs who think they're above the law ... or they expect the aircrew to make exceptions because of who they are.

For example, there were a few missions I was on where we had some minor aircraft issues. The books left some leeway with the crew. You betcha, if the VIP and/or their staff was a pain in the you know what, the mission was delayed. Why should we jump threw hoops for someone who treats up like crap?
