Default UAL pilot missing in Turbo Aztec off Bahamas

A UAL pilot, Bancroft Nyack is one of two persons missing after a Piper Aztec F Turbo N2848R, lost both engines and descended into the Ocean in the Bahamas yesterday around 11:30 10 miles northeast of Acklin Island.

There is a large scale search going on in the area, and hoping for a positive outcome.

A Falcon 10 passing overhead heard the distress calls, talked with the pilot, and passed on the info to Miami Center who sent the US Coast Guard.

There is no news unfortunately. USCG had a Hercules from Tampa, a Falcon from Miami, and a Jayhawk from Turks and Caicos.

I will post any updates when they arrive.

Update, 2 persons on board, UAL pilot was owner of the aircraft, Travis R. Compton (44) based in Washington DC, but lived in Miami. The other person on board Bancroft Nyack is his cousin.

N2848R is a C-182 registered in Texas, so whatever media reported this was (as usual) incorrect.

It's been over 24 hours now. What are the water temps in the search area for this time of the year?

After a quick search it looks like they would be right around 70.
