I'm all for automation but I love performance. The -700 makes money flying HOU-AUS just the same as ISP-LAS. It's a very flexible aircraft and if it was so "marginal" there wouldn't be 3000+ aircraft in service. ;)

Where did I say it was "marginal"? I said it was antiquated. The newer cockpits are simpler and more user friendly. 73N could've had one.

Same reason they didn't stick a C141 cockpit on a C17. Or an F4 front end on an F22.

Why does everyone confuse scope and codeshare, they are two different things. Scope relates to aircraft flying segments in your airlines system. Our contract does allow codeshare on an extremely limited basis as a percentage of our overall flying done. Gary has stated he sees a potential to bring in extra revenue with no risk associated to SWA in these turbulent times. I would much rather see internal growth and am not a fan of theses proposed codeshares, but am willing to accept the "any port in a storm" mentality when it comes to added revenue when revenue is difficult to come by. We originally had a clause that stated that any codeshared segment flown on another airline must also include a segment on a SWA aircraft before it coulsd be sold on the SWA website. That language was changed and I hope we can negotiate it back.

Sorry I stand corrected, you never said that ;)

It was Wastach Phantom who said the 737 was a "mediocre aircraft"

I do agree that the cockpit is "antiquated" and it would be nice to have a 75/76 style layout or even better a 777 layout. But hey it pays the bills and I'll enjoy it untill something new comes along :D

All hail to the 700, "deafness by recurc fan!"

Is that 767 A Model or N767A?

Actually, the position is a little outdated, was current when I joined APC.

767-400 for a few more months, soon to be 767-300ER (capt)

Never heard of a 767 referred to as an "A" model. Seat designations vary among carriers. Captain=A=CA=Left=El Hefe, etc.

Any thoughts on what the future plans hold for SWA and aircraft types? After the 737NG?

Actually, below the windscreen the screens in the NG are the same as the 777. It's that damn overheard that turns so many off.
