Default Piedmont paint scheme on Airbus

Yesterday at IAD, We were going down Z to 30, and beside us on Y there was an white Airbus with the Piedmont logo on the tail. It had the blue stripe down the side. "PIEDMONT" was written on the tail, and "US AIRWAYS" was written on the side in red letters.

At first, I thought we had taxied into a time warp back to 1983.

What is the deal?

Pretty, isn't it? They also have a psa paint scheme. This is just a retro paint job. AA has done this before as has other carriers. USairways traces its roots to mainly: piedmont, allegheny, PSA, and now awa. I think it looks good!

AA has done retro paint jobs on it's OWN aircraft, but would certainly NEVER paint any aircraft in colors from airlines it either bought or merged with, as USAirways has done.

I heard that it was supposed to commemorate all of the different companies that had merged to make the current airline. Sort of paying homage to your roots....

I liked when they had that 757 in retro jet colors. that scheme looked better than modern day. IMHO

Wish someone would bring back the Braniff paint schemes and interiors.

And F/As.

Interesting!
I think American Airlines should paint a aircraft in the TWA colors and have the names of the over 1900 Pilots they screwed over and furoughed painted on the fuselage like boggies shot down in combat.
