UAL sees opportunity in JAL's woes
On the Call: UAL sees opportunity in JAL's woes - BusinessWeek
MINNEAPOLIS
The two biggest U.S. carriers to Asia are United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. So United has a keen interest in the bidding war between Delta and American Airlines for closer ties with Japan Airlines, which filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month.
United already has a partnership with JAL rival All Nippon Airways. During a conference call with analysts on Wednesday, United President John Tague said he thinks JAL's bankruptcy gives United an opportunity to grow there.
QUESTION: What kind of contributions is United seeing from JAL's bankruptcy?
ANSWER: "I told our revenue team the other day that I remember spending multiple trips in Asia being terrorized when United was in bankruptcy, about what an awful thing that was, in terms of a position to be in within Asia. So, now's our time to go to work and take full advantage of the position that they find themselves in.
"... This is a big opportunity for this company, and you can expect we're going to execute very aggressively."

The only opportunity UAL takes is to **** off it's customers, sue it's employees and give bonuses to it's management team. Any increase in flying will be thru death star allaiance, RJ's, Air Lingus..etc... what a joke!!

Exactly. They have no airframes to grow internally.
