What do you think of Continentals impact on the industry during the 80's that reverberated for decades?

I'll second this statement!

I also recall a play on the CAL marketing slogan, "One Airline Can Make a Difference". During the late eighties, the UAL pilot changed it to "One less Airline Can Make a Difference". Now you need Continental to save you guys? Yeah, right!

The point is.... there is now use in throwing rocks when you live in a glass house. Every airline, every pilot group has skeletons in the closet. Would you like to discuss the historical injustices from the Delta guys, the American guys, the USAir guys etc. The bigger issue is how we can make gains going forward. No United guy is pleased with the present circumstances and its definitely not under the presumption we were hired under.

So, we can sit around and b&tch about it, or do something in an attempt to counter the forces that are reshaping the industry.

On a side note,

Rumor floating around CAL is we might see a mass exodus of scabs to retirements due to the merger. The ones I've spoken with are terrified as to how they will be treated by their UAL breathren.

I wasn't refering to scabs, I was refering to the fight over Denver.

23 years too late, but I won't miss them.

B.S. flag thrown and thrown high! The only thing I've heard scabs say is how they've always wanted to fly the 747-400. If anyone thinks scabs will run, or not be protected you're dreaming. Former CAL mgt protecting scabs is just one way the new mgt team will make this new monster float.

WOW, seriously? If its true, that's the best news I've heard in years.

I'll go along with this merger as long as the UAL pilots vote out ALPA. They have not helped either pilot group.

That gives me an idea on SLI...
Put scabs from both airlines on the bottom of the list!
Wouldn't that make a lot of pilots happy?:p
