Airlines report profits and losses - South Florida Business Journal:


The seven low-cost carriers surveyed by the DOT – including South Florida leaders such as Miramar-based Spirit Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Southwest Airlines – had a combined operating profit of $267 million for the quarter.
Spirit, the leading carrier at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, reported a quarterly operating profit of $22 million on revenue of $171.6 million.
For the full year, Spirit had a profit of $107.1 million on revenue of $699 million. In 2008, it reported a profit of $23.6 million on revenue of $789 million.
Southwest, the second-leading carrier at FLL and third-leading carrier at PBIA, reported profits for both the quarter and the full year. JetBlue, the second-leading carrier at PBIA, was also profitable for the quarter and the year.
