That is the key to all employment these days. "Current and Qualified" ... Nevertheless, sooner or later companies with this requirement will have to start paying for training if they want to expand.

Which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.... I mean back in the day, when the normal route to the right seat was thru a 2-5 year stint sitting sideways, how much flight currency do you think those pilots had? Or what about the military guy who gets a 3 year desk job, or the furloughed pilot who gets a recall after years? Currency is just a way to save money for airlines.... nothing to do with hiring quality crew.

Currency is starting to worry me. On unemployment I cant afford to rent a C-172 every couple of weeks and pay the mortgage at the same time. Yet it appears many regional airlines want to see some flying in the past 30, 60 and 90 day periods. My CFI expired a long time ago and frankly I didn't renew it because I could not look a student in the eye and promise that their will be a demand for pilots in the future. ( I hope I was wrong) ....oh well, I think
I was being honest then but there are many levels of honesty by different people.

I will just continue to sit back and see what happens next in this crazy industry.- I hope reputable regionals begin to hire soon though.

If you're going to go back to your furlough airline, even if you find a job right now at a regional or wherever, then why does it matter if you find a job in the first place? Other than you get more time in the log book. Just wait it out. If don't care about going back, then you have to buy a block time at the local FBO and get current.

I would prefer not to go back to Mesa.....But if I had to I guess I would. I want to hold out for something better but I doubt muck movement is going to happen anytime soon. There is no shortage of pilots looking for work right now (no shortage ever), many of them with thousands more hours than me.

The pay rates and zero benifits listed in this thread by the two 737 pilots are for part-time status pilots only.

I've sent a good half dozen resumes over the past year and I haven't heard anything either.
