Should the Governor be plugging American? After all they have plugging FL up the a$$ for around twenty years now. I would love to have a job at Vision. Anyone that thinks they would never fly a Jet for this or that: wait til your unemployment expires, savings gone, and your house about to go into foreclosure. Oh, I know you would get a job at Home Depot... Did that too, til they cut my hours to 8 a week. Thats $64 a week before taxes for the mathematically challenged. Couldn't afford to go to work on that. Anyone with info on Vision, I would love to hear about it. I have 24 years 121 experience, 16 as a Captain, B727, B757 and B747. I would need to look at the logbook but I am sure it reflects I was quite busy for sometime there! Good luck and God bless to you all. This economy is a killer. I am now thankful I was not blessed with children. Frats

According to Vision's website, they have been around since 1994. Why is it that topics on airlines that aren't well known seems to always get posted in the Upstart forum? I vote that this thread gets moved to either the Major forum (as they are conducting business like an LCC) or the Charter forum.

I vote for that too. I guess it is the scheduled air service that is "start up". The Grand Canyon stuff and charter side have been around a long time...and hopefully will be around for many years to come!

It's so disappointing and frustrating to see so many pilots eager to take a ridiculously low-paying job. With no benefits either. It shows how much you value yourself and your worth as a pilot by seeking these jobs. Yeah you might be unemployed with bills to pay, but that argument could also be used by someone who crosses a picket line.
Hopefully more of us avoid becoming hopelessly dependent on an airline job, thereby avoiding the willingness to take any job for next-to-nothing wages.

Easily spoken from your glass house.....

Who are you to define another pilot's self-worth and how one values himself based on what you see fit?

Furthermore, scab has its own specific definition. People that take jobs that are below your elite standards are not scabs by any stretch of imagination.

How arrogant! It is not the same as crossing a picket line. He is not advocating taking a shortcut to take food off anothers table. He is talking about doing what is necessary to survive hard times and to meet financial obligations. Hopefully it is only a temporary solution, given his credentials. Best of luck to you, 727574drvr.

Never said he was a scab, he is absolutely not one. I just made a point that taking taking jobs like these ultimately undercuts all pilots, which is obviously detrimental to the entire profession.

I don't see it's as arrogance. I have high expectations for our profession and our compensation levels. I think that's a good thing. I want to see everyone paid accordingly, not just myself.

No offense, taken Andy, its just that in these economic times, with my resume, salary history, education, blah blah blah, I can't even get a minimum wage job. A friend who is ex-ATA L1011 gets his electricity turned off on Tuesday. We spent all day yesterday begging local chuches to provide some temporary relief. I agree with everything you said Andy and yes I am a longtime ALPA member in good standing. Also, many thanks to my other Brother or Sister Pilots on this thread. When better times come for ALL of us then when can wage the war on wage and benefit. Right now I am surviving on Food Stamps and occaisional temp jobs.

Time to get off that high horse of yours! That is mighty arrogant of you to say this. Until you are in the same shoe as someone else, who is jobless, can't pay the bills, going to lose the house, you know absolutely nothing of it. Undercut the profession... yeah, go ahead, lose your house, go on food stamps, and start living on the streets just so you won't undercut the pilot profession by taking that lowly paying job. Shame on you!

Of course you don't see yourself as being arrogant. Arrogant behaving people are unaware that they're being arrogant.

I'd tell you to put a sock in it if it wasn't a borderline violation of this site's Terms of Service.
