Delta New Hires/Class Dates/Cleared to Train

Hello team Delta!

I'm happy to say that I was offered the conditional job offer mid July. I have not been contacted about a class date or cleared to train status. Have any of the other street hires out there been given a class date? In ATL Delta told us to expect either September 6th or 20th. This new information regarding the canceled interviews is making me think class dates may be pushed back due to the amount of recalls coming back.

Can't wait to start :D

It takes right around 2 weeks to get the 'Cleared to train' call. A friend of a friend inteviewed on Jul 2, & got the call on Jul 14. I believe he will be in the 2nd Aug class. He is an off the street hire.

My other buddy interviewed mid-July too, & he has heard nothing as well. I expect him to hear something this week.

I also believe they're holding the flowups back at least 60 days, so I think most street hires will get in class before them. Guess time will tell.

Hope to see you on the line soon. :)

So would it be reasonable to assume that the classes will go like this:

First class - all recalls

Second class - 1/2 or more recalls and some new guys

Third class - Mostly new guys off the street and a few recalls

Next classes - Mostly new guys off the street

Last classes - Mostly flows that might have seniority over the off the street guys in the first few classes

Either way, welcome to all the new people!

I know we have one recall going in the 8/2 class and 2 more going to the 8/16 so there are definately more in the 8/16 class.

acl65pilot 07-25-2010 07:34 PM

Yep from what I have been told at least the first two classes will have recalls in them.

TenYearsGone 07-25-2010 08:00 PM

Im in 8/2 (recall)

My bud is in 8/16 (newhire).

TYG is a furlough bypass/recall......interview date not relevant to initial class.

acl65pilot 07-26-2010 03:16 AM

Flight ops update from yesterday states they have hired everyone needed for the fall classes. Totals are 170 new hires, 135 recalls and flows for the planned total of 305.

deonrenae 07-31-2010 06:31 AM

On the DAL interview written, past or present, are there any of the chart type questions from the ATP such as: "(Refer to Figures 56, 57, and 58.) What is the ground distance covered during en route climb for Operating Conditions in example V-5"? I am praying for an interview date, sooner or later, and would hate to waste the time on chart type of questions if it is just the basic stuff about Cat II approaches and windshear.

Thanks!

Someone may PM you, but they will probably not post that on here. DAL went back to the applicants signing a NDA on the process this last time.

Also, I heard that the Mesaba "flow" was "approved" by the MEC and that some of the bypass returnees are going to immediately go on MIL LEAVE. Hence, keep on updating your apps and if you get an interview now, take it. You might get put into a class with the BR going on MIL.

The LOA that came out yesterday keeps the Mesaba Flow status quo until at least Sept 1, 2010.

I say welcome aboard to the Mesaba nine.

What LOA is that?

Denny

acl65pilot 07-31-2010 10:53 AM

LOA 23. It is on the DALPA start page.

Just read it, thanks. Looks like it is just an interim LOA to give them more time to "meet and confer."

Hi Denny,

Call your reps to get the real story. There is MUCH more to this issue than meets the eye.

It was pretty cool to walk out of the Training Center last night and see the "welcome sign' for the first class starting on Monday. I remember those days. Welcome aboard guys!

acl65pilot 07-31-2010 11:19 AM

First class is recalls, second class is recalls, third class has true off the street new hires in it.

Aug, 2, 9, 16th.

If I would project it would be a guess. Since the FB guys only have five days of Indoc I would guess mid to late week if it is needed. If there is one and I am informed of it, I will be there! :D

The big issue is what is happening with the Compass flow-down. If they can't keep that because of issues with Trans States then they need to have a flow-down somewhere or else they can only have 85 76 seaters. Looks like they are hanging onto this flow-down just in case the Compass one falls apart. If all else fails, then Delta will go to Comair and say, "here's a new flow-down you will honor or we'll park all the jets". There will be a flow-down somewhere, it might just not be at Compass or Mesaba. As far as flow-ups go, I think we all know how Delta feels about that and I won't be surprised to see all flow-up provisions come to an end.

Since the first two classes are recalls, shouldn't the know where they are going and what jets they will be in already? I know in my new hire class they recalls already knew and they got wherever they wanted to go with the seniority they could hold. So where are they going?!

TurboMD88 08-01-2010 12:10 PM

The 16th is all new hires off the street and internal employees that were sucessful canidates as well. Should be aprox 30 in the class....

Anybody who interviewed on Jul 14/15 get the call yet??

acl65pilot 08-01-2010 01:52 PM

The recall guys I know have their jets and bases.

Mesaba pilots won't allow a flow down without a flow up. It must remain equal on both ends. I highly doubt DALPA would even put this insult on the table.

Would you allow a flow down if there was not an equal flow up?
