The Southwest folks, well they have always had a very good reputation from not only the pilot group but also the management side.
Since I was corrected earlier about my mistake of using "merger" instead of acquire, does this represent what is in store for our professional brothers and sisters at AirTran.
Are they really about to be punished by the wolves in sheeps clothing. It will be a true test of the SWA pilot groups professionalism without a doubt. To the AirTran pilot group, good luck and I hope your careers did not go from growth and continued improvements in your quality of life to nothing but an angry, hostile work environment with constant disdain and hazing from a fellow employee once they say "Hi, how long you been here - oh...your Airtran!"

With the passage of the new federal law on mergers there is nothing the SW pilots can do to the AirTran pilots. The fate of the AirTran pilots will come down to negotiation with SWAPA and then more then likely binding arbitration.
On a different note are there any details on the TA payrates?

The union boys are in hiding till Thursday. Just rumors so far. None worth repeating.

IMO, pay rates look pretty good for a LCC with a relatively quick (less than 5 years) upgrade.

You're kidding right? Surely you can't be serious.

Being an LCC should have NOTHING to do with your payrates in a perfect world. Nor should upgrade time affect payrates. For the record, AAI is no longer a five year upgrade.

In truth, 8th year F/Os should be making $150/hr., not cptns. This profession is so far in the schitter.......unreal.

The AAI TA will pass because the alternative is the even worse contract they operate under now. The NMB will not release the pilots to strike and management knows this. The merger will happen and AAI pilots will be under the SWA contract in 12 to 18 months. The AAI union should be concentrating on the upcoming seniority battle. The SLI outcome will affect the lives of AAI pilots far more than a contract that missed their goals by 10%.
