AirTran has a TA
Just received email from Union.
Details to come. This morning, at approximately 2:00 a.m., your Negotiating Committee and AirTran management reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. The tentative agreement is subject to careful review of language for a few miscellaneous contract provisions and Letters of Agreement, approval by the MEC and membership ratification. The MEC will consider and vote whether to approve the TA next week. If approved, the agreement will be put out for ratification by the membership during November. There are significant improvements in pay, work rules, benefits and other important areas of the collective bargaining agreement. The MEC will soon announce dates, times and locations for contract road shows and to provide more information about the MEC’s plans to undertake the other important steps related to transition and seniority integration. The MEC and the negotiating team thank you for your strong support during this lengthy process. We look forward to sharing the details of the agreement and our going forward plans with you over the coming weeks. |
This seems kinda "coincidental"

I really do not think these raises will matter in a SLI. A seniority snapshot was already taken the day after the proposed acquisition. But, I'm not an arbitrator, so I do not know if they will take this into consideration. I am happy for them though...

Pay is the least of their concerns if this TA has 84 seat scope relief. I would hope that if positive labor relations is still going to be the in thing at the "new SWA" that the company would have swiftly removed that abomination because I don't think the SWA pilots will take too kindly to it.
