Default SWA new crew base publ. next week

Next week we'll find out what the new crew base will be. Care to guess, anyone? I'll put my money on TPA or LAS.

Why wouldn't they already have a base in Vegas? Seems way too logical for me. Any insights??

LAS is indeed logical based on the # of crew we put up there every night.

We have 13 RON's every night here in TPA,Thats also alot of overnight crews. Having a base here would help my famlily out because my wife is Inflight. I seriously doubt we would get a base, Mainly due to summer = Hurricane season. Remember when (Hurricane Charlie?) knocked out MCO? Even when a hurricane comes close we evacuate stations for sometimes a couple of days. Imagine the strain on the system if both TPA-MCO crew bases were shut down for a day or two? Or more. I'd hate to be in scheduling if that happened.
A base in LAS makes more sense to me. BUT my money would be on BNA.

Besides you really don't believe that we are actually going to open another base do you? That rumor has been floating around for a long time. Is your source a solid company document or just from somebody with "connections".

LAS was the 'next' base five years ago. We had started the buildout below the the gates for the offices and lounges and then 9-11 happened. We paid a hefty price to cancel the contract. Also as a 9-11 side note, when we started service at ORF, we announced that RIC would open as a new city in 6months. That never happened either. My guess is LAS or TPA, BNA would be nice.
