Default Alaska To Double Miles

Wheeee! I've always wanted to visit Anchorage!

From Associated Press:

SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines said Wednesday that members of its Mileage frequent-filer plan will be able to earn double miles on the carrier's nonstop flights between Anchorage, Alaska and Los Angeles and Denver.

The airline is hoping that by offering more miles it can entice travelers to visit Alaska during the state's summer tourist season.

"Summer is the perfect time to visit the great state of Alaska and with this offer our customers in Los Angeles and Denver can 'double down' to earn twice the miles for their flights," said Rick Rasmussen, director of customer loyalty and marketing programs.

The promotion for flights between Anchorage and Los Angeles begins on May 23, while the promotion for flights to and from Denver begins June 5. In both cases, the flights must take place on or before Sept. 6.

Well, if I lived in Seattle, I'd be making reservations for an Inside Passage cruise/Alaska Railroad trip right now! It really is that spectacular.

Totally agree! The Inside Passage is the best part of the State.

I wonder if you still get the miles if you buy the ticket but the flight cancels due to lack of pilot crew?!

Or they show up on the wrong day, because our schedules don't show up on a calendar.

Mookie,

Funny, sad, and true at the same time. Too many red-eye flights here at Alaska Airlines. Given the recent cancellations due to lack of pilot crew, I wonder what this Summer is going to look like. I guess Super Bowl weekend will be an early indicator... kind of a "canary in the coal mine."

cesnacapt,

What you mentioned above is 100% true. You have to do a double or triple take when you look at the bid pack to figure out what the report & push times are for the red-eye flights. I know some pilots who have missed their assignment because of this.

So I'm guessing this is an incentive to go via the Eskimo when JetBlue starts LGB-ANC and/ or Frontier/RAH/etc from DEN?? in the summer.
