Seriously guys why is it always and only Southwest that does this? I'm all for scrutiny of passengers but this was ridiculous....
How about because they carry an insanely large amount of pax annually. Their average stage length is fairly short which exposes crews and the airline to many, many pax. To answer the question above, because the odds of them having to kick off an unruly pax is much greater when you carry as many pax as they do.

Anyone ever fly into Tel-Aviv? They love them some "ethnic-profiling"! And guess what, it works. I got the third degree for having a Jewish name and not being Jewish. Turns out my mom just liked biblical names. I was in uniform by the way...Did i mind the barrage of questioning? Absolutely not, it gave me peace of mind to know they were protecting their border, airline, and general public. I say bring it!

I would have did the same thing better safe than sorry....
Or would you rather have sit back and said nothing and had the plane taken over by someone? Yea I guess sitting back and not saying anything.
But then again when you say something you have to deal with some of the comments people put on websites.
Guess SWA is not the airline to go with. Its safe and cheap. Most of the time those two dont go together.
I would choose them over anyone in the states.

The irony.
This gets you kicked off these days...
While this was the standard uniform decades ago...
So I thought the previous generation(s) were supposed to be the prudes? Well, goes to show, it takes generations to build a fortune, one to ruin it, and many others to clean up the mess. <<< taking pot shots now.
Why do I sense the girl in the front of this picture doesn't work at SWA anymore but the one coming up the aisle does?
As to this situation, what the hell can you do? Damned if you do and wouldn't have been damned if you didn't unless of course it blew up, then you're pretty much damned but nobody would've known your damn mistake.
I kicked a passenger off just once when i was a Captain. It was the first leg out. By the third leg I realized the problem was my FA, not the passengers. But how do you know? You don't. But it'd probably help if we took up an Israeli styled "look for a terrorist" and not a "look for a bomb" mentality in both the government and private side of this crippled industry.

Yeah, the other day I thought I heard the FO say go around... Of course I didn't actually do anything about it, because I know I always here strange things like that.
Good for the FA for acting on what she (thought she) heard!

But yet her "getting kicked off" is continually repeated.

I find the larger irony in the fact that Kyla was never kicked off of any plane, and flew on her scheduled flight.
But yet her "getting kicked off" is continually repeated.
Always and only? Really.

Really, I would venture to guess that every airline pilot on the site has had to kick some one off at one time or another, maybe not for something like this, but it happens and rarely makes the news. Remember, the media usaully gets a tip, and rarely sniffs out a story. This is news because the lady and the American Council for Islamic Relations made it news...
