I saw the MD-80's do it when they shut down I-5, other then that it must have been 15 years ago or more.

Okay, rumors of SKYW opening a base in SEA are abound. Maybe it's more than just rumor. Can anyone verify? If SKYW is going to open a crew base SEA, say hello to many many more f'n RJs. They wouldn't open a whole new base just for 5 jets.

It's more than just a rumor. It's official. For now, they are going to base the RJs in PDX.

The memo we got today said RJs in both SEA and PDX, with 23 crews in each starting in July, and possible expansion to follow.

Surprise,

Thanks for the info.

"Possible expansion" is a euphemism for "definite expansion." The floodgates have opened and there's no way to stop this now. No amount of negotiating is going to reverse the tide. We have only ourselves to blame.

... launch in the Pacific Northwest gives us the opportunity to add CRJ 700 flying to our PDX domicile, .....a SEA domicile effective July 1, 2011. The initial SEA bid will consist of 46 flight attendants, 23 CRJ Captains and 23 CRJ First Officers (includes reserves). The PDX CRJ positions will consist of 46 flight attendants, 23 Captains and 23 First Officers (includes reserves)....

The race to the bottom continues. But its okay skywest has above average pay rates, crap retirement, and crap health insurance. At least alaska wont have to carry QX dead weight. (Sarcasm for those that DON'T GET IT)

Wow. Didn't Horizon fly CRJ 700's? I guess this will free up Dash 8's to fly in Alaska. A lot of pilot groups getting the shaft here, except for SkyWest of course.
