Schumer (D-N.Y.), Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) announced new legislation Wednesday to confront airlines that are socking travelers with new fees for carry-on luggage. The legislation comes after Spirit Airlines announced last week that it would begin charging customers a whopping $45 for carry-on luggage. The policy could spur other airlines to follow suit and impose a similar fee. The senators’ legislation is designed to rein in this new practice and restore basic fairness to airline travel. |

Now that is for carry-on luggage but, if Spirit charges $125 before fees and SWA charges $250 with no fees, Spirit will still be cheaper and not paying the same amount of taxes to the government. And once again, all these DC Asshats are going to jump in and Re-Regulate what is supposed to be a "Deregulated" industry...so exactly what is "Fair Pricing" anyway? In the eyes of Senators, that means THEY get a free upgrade and pay zero in bag fees, right Senator? |
