Jumpseating international on United
#1
Has anyone done this? Our j/s info says United will allow us for international but I am just wondering how is it once you get over to Europe? I am nervous about coming back as in getting past the gate agents over there. Thanks.

How about if the airline is a codeshare? For example, will they let you on Lufthansa if it's a United flight number too?

It all comes down to the jumpseat and non-rev agreements that your particular carrier has. Your best bet is to call your jumpseat coordinator and ask what the particular policy is.
That said, I've found that getting through security isn't a big issue, particularly if you are in uniform (I'd wear it through security and change on the plane or not change at all...)
As far as UAL goes, one word of warning- in the past, UAL has had non-rev blackout periods to an from Europe. I don't believe that they have one right now, but that could affect your ability to travel back. If you have the ability to come back on one of the cargo carriers (UPS or FedEx), I've had very good experiences with them, pre 9/11. My ride back from Europe on UPS was one of the nicest jumpseat experiences I've had.
