Default Which planes are Delta getting rid of?

In the airline section it says Delta is to simplify down to 4 aircraft types by 2008.

Look at their fleet and tell me how they are going to do that.

Bear in mind they are Blitzkrieging internationally...not sure they won't lose their shirts doing it...

From the press release that they issued last year it stated that they were going to have:
777
757/767 (They are getting rid of the 767-200's)
737-800
MD-88

My thoughts the same, I guess it would be the DAL shuttle, BOS-NYC. I see them all the time @BOS.

THE MD-88 are doing short and medium haul routes that the RJ's are too small for.
They are planning on keeping them. In fact, they are looking at picking up more of them if they can find them for a goood price.

My understanding was that they were going for three common types:
777/767-400
757/767-300/767ER
737-XXX

I heard the Maddogs were to be retired within two years. Until then, they serve the smaller markets that are between an RJ and a 75.

Default 757's to FDX?

FedEx just announced they were acquiring up to 90 757's ... I wondered if that was a result of DAL going to 4 a/c types (777,767,737, MD-80)?

I believe Delta has both, MD-90s and -88s. From what I have heard though, the -90s are supposed to be leaving the fleet. (have heard the rumors for a long time)
