Not really sure how the East is trying to improve pay and working conditions when they reject every part of the West contract that is better than the East. And that DOH seniority is DOA as far as getting into a new contract.

USAPA threw out the TAd sections of the joint contract that were in place when they voted themselves on the island. Too bad, because ALPA would have had a contract to vote on within 4 weeks. Pay was already settled and it was far above the Kirby proposal.

OH PLEASE! Integrate and they get a big raise. I have a lot of ties to Airways, friends, and other roots, I know the deal, and the Easties are nothing short of a bunch of whiny premadonnas who think they are the most important pilots in the world. They are among the rudest, unfriendly (to crew and pax alike), arrogant, self involved bunch of bullies to roam the schoolyard.

I guess the east pilots aren't to blame for the situation then, just calm, warm, salt of the earth people. I wonder why every pilot group in the us is mortified to have to deal with them in a merger? Maybe it was the fact they told united pilots they were going to staple them back in 2000? Or, oh never mind, it would take all day to cover all the great things they do collectivelly as a pilot group that make them so endearing to you.

That's because we aren't merging with them. Where I live, there is a large group of them. Invariably, during the commute, I find the same thing about them as you. However, back when we were fighting off a hostile takeover, I had to put up with constant comments about how we were going to be stapled because we were the bankrupt carrier, and questions about what their DOH seniority would hold in Atlanta. Some even made direct comments about how they were finally going to get their due and be line holding heavy international captains by taking all the 777 and ER A seats.

Now the comments are variations about how lucky we were to avoid "this toxic cesspool." ( Direct quote from an East captain.)

You get it, they did the exact same thing to united. With Awa they got lucky because if their larger numbers. They demanded doh or nothing and when a neutral third party didn't give it to them, the vast majority of them decided to impose it on the smaller group. Men of integrity these guys.

I had to put up with the same during their attempted takeover of Delta. Every* USAirways guy I spoke to during that time almost immediately asked me my hire date and what equipment I could hold. Narrow body FOs were thinking that a merger would put them in the left seat of a 767.

I feel bad for the AWA guys, and hope that the American guys don't get sucked into that mess.

*And I do mean every one of them. Not 90%, not 95%: every one of them.

Glad you made it out, as a west pilot I would like to know what, short of capitulating, can the west pilot group do? BTW I don't know if the rest of you guys know this, but the first thing the east pilots did after electing they're own union was sue over 100 west pilots under the racketeering statues designed to take down the mob, usapa of course lost, but not being content they kept appealing until they ran out of money(just this week btw). They're public plan was to keep the west pilots busy and deplete our finances having to defend ourselves from doing such things as posting on this board. Real men of integrity these east guys.
