is there any rumor of an ORD base with all the increase of flying?

There was but from what we have been told it has been put off. I think they want to get LAS up and running before we move onto another base.

Curious as to whether they have humanized the interview process any since just before the furlough? I interviewed with 9 others, we were each told that we were only after the job so we could get a 319 type and then go to CAL. The intern told me that I was incorrect on my memory item of an airplane I'd been flying for 4 years. Then the union rep guy accused me of planning on leaving for CAL because I lived 15 minutes from Newark, I actually lived 2.5 hours from Newark. It was the most hostile interview I've ever been to and left thinking that I didn't want the job. It worked out because they hired 1 out of 10 that day. Their layoffs began a few months later, so thank you for rejecting me! I'm in a good spot now it's all good. Anyone else have that kind of experience?

When was this...it's news to me:confused:

My interview was about the same time and was nothing like this at all. Not that I am saying it couldn't be that way, but I have heard our interview process is one of the most laid back there is.

Look on the bright side...at least the ground school "used to be held" in an old abortion clinic w/ security bars on 8 mile road. The sign in DTW read... FLY SP IT. Those were the days. Good luck at UCAL, I hear things are going well there!

Thanks

PO, like all Spirit pilots on the seniority list, choose to honor the picket line in 2010 (so proud to say that!). Spirit's MEC defined 'struck work' as office work too, so PO would have had to cross to remain a management pilot. He didn't burn all his bridges, though, so, I'd still reach out to him if he's connected to you, but wouldn't address a cover letter to him anymore.

Current CP is RD (former Virgin management pilot), and ACP is CG (Spirit line scum in his prior life).

Got what I needed...thanks :D

I am hoping to get interview soon as I sure there are many.

I have a couple questions if any one can answer. When you are offered a pilot postion and your in class on day one how does the company "Spirit" set the newbies in there seniority, age, ssn, etc?

Is DTW a very senior base or pretty easy to hold?

DTW is senior. Very senior. Some new hires in the past year have been able to hold it but will be on RSV for a long time. That would have been easy to find with a quick search. All of our threads have had the question asked more than once.

Seniority used to be DOB if I remember correctly. Don't know if its changed, maybe a new hire can get on and confirm or correct that.

Spirit will posivitve space if you are traveling from an airport we serve. If not you have to pay for a ticket. The interview used to be at the hotel all the interviewees stayed but not sure if that's still the case. The interviews start in the morning. You will take the written as a group then you will be called in for the panel. Usually, you are out around noon and everyone goes to lunch together. After that you are free to go.

I'll throw another question: what is roughly the time from online application to getting a phone call for interview, or thanks but no thanks type of letter.

nattyboh 03-05-2012 11:31 AM

I filled out the generic online app early Feb for the first time. I just today received a "full" application and promptly filled that out. Waiting to see what happens next. Not to sure. I will post with the next step.

BillyBaroo 03-05-2012 04:16 PM

Thanks for the info. I did the short one a few weeks after yours, so it gives me an idea.

huntington 03-11-2012 12:08 PM

Hey, when you received the full application, was it sent to your junk mail? and who was it from? I heard that it might be from "noreply......" ??? That's what a friend of mine said he heard. I applied several months ago and haven't received the full app yet.

Prancinghorse 03-11-2012 12:11 PM

I did the long application about three weeks ago. Nothing yet. I've heard they may be switching to just 1 class per month instead of 2.

They're slowing classes during the Summer and picking it back up in the Fall... still a total of 140'ish new hires this year.

Anyone have the new interview format? Some sample questions on the written and panel interview would be appreciated.

Thanks!
