Spirit Interview

Anyone have the gouge for Spirit? I have an interview coming up and I'm looking for the current gouge.

Thanks

seattlepilot 12-01-2011 02:46 PM

I don't buy I was wondering what your times are.

dn_wisconsin 12-01-2011 03:22 PM

Look in Spirit of NKS, should be just a few threads below. Lot's of good info about us and the most recent interview gouge is probably in the last 10 pages or so.

tothe 12-02-2011 07:43 AM

was wondering if any fairly new spirit guys could help me out with some time line questions. i know these numbers could change at any time.

1. time frame from application to interview call.
2. interview call to actual interview date.
3. interview date to job offer.
4. job offer to actual class date.

much appreciated

falcon2000aj 12-02-2011 08:28 AM

-Internal rec sent my resume in mid September. Also filled out online app around the same time.

-Received call for interview around Sept 25th. Had to turn down the first few dates (Oct 4, 10, 11)offered for interview due to trips.

-Interviewed Oct 17th. Received call 2 days later with job offer.

-Scheduled for a Dec 12th class date.

Interview gouge-

-1 hour Spirit history and a Q and A about future/rumors.
-40 or so questions on ATP written.
-30 minute interview- Asst Chief Pilot, line pilot and 2 from HR. Very laid back. A few TMAAT questions. Why do you want to work here? Tell us about who you are and what you do besides flying..... 3 strengths, 3 weaknesses.....
-Lunch, then on your way home.

tothe 12-02-2011 08:48 AM

thanks for the info falcon. do you know of any others in the same boat as you? do you know if any others in your position were around the same time frames? just trying to get a feel

falcon2000aj 12-02-2011 08:57 AM

Yes, I believe most have had the same time frame. I met a guy when I flew down for background check/ drug testing- he interviewed a week before me and is starting class a week before me.

seattlepilot 12-04-2011 03:26 AM

Anyone know if they are even looking at people with no tpic ?

RJCruzer007 12-04-2011 07:02 AM

I personally know of someone without TPIC. However ATP is mandatory! Good Luck!

Yes. Not the most important factor to them. Not TPIC can easily be overlooked if you have anytime in a 121 training department.

AirbornPegasus 12-05-2011 05:37 PM

What are the chances of getting on without an internal rec and no TPIC? I am weighing options and even considering going overseas. I would like to have the option to stay in the states, but staying in my current position for an other 3-5 years is just not going to cut it. I have had my app in for about a month, but no word. Thanks.

bubi352 12-05-2011 08:56 PM

I had two guys jumpseat on my flight to FLL for an interview. Both had internal recommendations. It certainly helps.

Excel 12-06-2011 08:55 PM

I was hoping someone at spirit migt be able to shoot me a PM as I have a quick question, thanks!

TailDragon 12-20-2011 11:13 AM

Are they still interviewing?

flyr72 12-20-2011 12:03 PM

Yes, they are still interviewing I had my interview last week on Thurs and was called on Mon with an offer.

seattlepilot 12-20-2011 12:18 PM

Have 121 time
Have time in initial certification of 141 and 135 ops ( lotsa time dealing with Feds and writing specs)
Have non turbine pic

Still no call.

Is there a job fair they are going to attend any time soon ?

Congrats, when is your class date? Just curious how far out they are planning. Some of us are eyeing other bases with the expansion.

I was in the same interview group... was given January 30th.

flyr72 12-20-2011 01:09 PM

Hey Thanks my class is Jan 23rd and I guess there is also a class on the 29th.

dn_wisconsin 12-20-2011 01:46 PM

For the new guys, expect ACY out of class. It looks like LAS, DTW and maybe FLL are full right now. The good news is depending on when you are hired you could see 2 base bids while you are in class. If you do, you stand a good chance at getting out of ACY before you are even released to the line. Most of our base bids seem to close around the middle of the month and are effective for the next schedule bid. For example, we just closed a base bid on the 15th which opened LAS. People who were awarded LAS can bid those schedules in January and start flying in February. With class lasting around 2 months including IOE you might see 2 base bids close. So worst case is maybe one or two months in a base you don't want but that of course depends on what guys senior to you want.

DN Wisc, Thanks for info. Alot to think about.. Merry Christmas..

Is background completed before or after class starts?

Before. Once you get the job and a class date they will have you come back to FLL and to all the drug test/background stuff.

Of course! You'll be junior to the riddle kids who got hired with 500TT

There are only about 12 of them and most of the uproar over it has passed. 2 or 3 of them gave that group a bad name but from what I've heard they have learned to keep their heads down and be gracious for the opportunity they were given. We do have upgrade requirements and not sure if they will meet them when there time comes.

One of them gave me a lift to work awhile back. He remembered me from Riddle and asked what I did before coming to Spirit. I told him I was at Skyway as a captain and loved every minute of it. He then asked what I did during furlough and I told him I found a job flying Dorniers again through the connections I had made over my time at Skyway. His response was, "Ya, I couldn't find anything because of my low time." I was able to laugh inside and that's really the last I've thought about it.

If you've been hired and disclosed in the interview, Spirit already decided that your bust could be overlooked. The background check is FBI stuff ('I omitted a stint in jail' type of thing), not FAA busts. Have you flown down to FLL to do the background check and ID photo visit? If so, just tell them then. If not, send an e-mail, better safe than sorry.

As for the 'cut and paste' story - I'd leave that out. Spirit is the airline that you've always wanted to work for, so why would you have apps in at other places? :D

I'm NOT in HR, just regular line scum. Welcome aboard!

dn_wisconsin 12-28-2011 05:24 AM

For the guys starting class. New vacancy bid just came out and its all for LAS. There are 4 captain and 10 FO slots. The notes say this is to cover new hire classes of 12/18, 12/26 and 1/02. This bid closes on Jan. 6th and is effective for March. I think its safe to assume there will be another bid sometime in January as long as we keep the classes going.

Still waiting to see what the lines look like.

IADBLRJ41 12-28-2011 07:44 AM

is there any rumor of an ORD base with all the increase of flying?

atp409 12-28-2011 08:06 AM

Curious as to whether they have humanized the interview process any since just before the furlough? I interviewed with 9 others, we were each told that we were only after the job so we could get a 319 type and then go to CAL. The intern told me that I was incorrect on my memory item of an airplane I'd been flying for 4 years. Then the union rep guy accused me of planning on leaving for CAL because I lived 15 minutes from Newark, I actually lived 2.5 hours from Newark. It was the most hostile interview I've ever been to and left thinking that I didn't want the job. It worked out because they hired 1 out of 10 that day. Their layoffs began a few months later, so thank you for rejecting me! I'm in a good spot now it's all good. Anyone else have that kind of experience?

Excel 12-28-2011 08:23 AM

Any intel on how often Spirit will be conducting interviews and holding new hire classes in the next few months?
