So Virgin Australia was first V Blue, then V Australia not Virgin Australia.

Looks to me like we're going to need at least a couple 777's a day going to Rio!

That's my rumor (rumour?) and I'm sticking to it. |

With the exception of the destinations over the Brazilian border, that route map looks a lot like what SWA would probably do..... And they fly all 737's soon.......

When the hell will pilots band together and say enough is enough. DAL stole pensions from all its pilots saying it couldn't afford the promises it made to 25+ year employees. A few years down the road, they suddenly have oodles of money. Instead of making their post 9/11 employees whole, they are sending it south of the border to a foreign carrier. Delta received bailout money from the government, er tax payers and now they are effectively using these funds to create jobs outside of America.
It's past time for Operation Orange to create some loud civil disobedience. Carl |

Best I could find from Wikipedia: Between 2001 and 2003, the ATSB approved applications for loan guarantees from seven carriers: America West Airlines, US Airways, American Trans Air, Aloha Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Evergreen International Airlines, and World Airways. These carriers accepted loan guarantees worth $1.179 billion. The ATSB denied applications from nine carriers: Ozark Airlines dba Great Plains Airlines, MEDjet International, Corporate Airlines, Gemini Air Cargo, Frontier Flying Service, Spirit Airlines, National Airlines, and both initial and revised applications from United Airlines and Vanguard Airlines. |
AMEX got something like $1B in bailout money in 2008...by becoming a bank just prior. They then turned around and gave Delta $1B in exchange for the right to loudly harass Delta customers in the terminals and have DAL flight attendants hawk credit cards over the PA like a carnival barker.
Yeah, DAL got taxpayer money, just indirectly. |
