NWA mechanics strike

Anybody have any skinny on this? July 19 is the last day to cast strike vote....you think they will walk?

NWA has backed them into a corner and doesn't want to continue talks. Instead they want to lock-out the mechanics and replace ALL union mechanics with non-union mechanics. I don't see that they really have a choice.

It's a sad day when employees who dedicate their life's work to a company are one day deemed throw-away workers.

I think NW is looking for as much gloom and doom as they can so they can file Bankruptcy. Even if the mechanics give them the wage concessions….it won’t matter.

It is a new industry driven by low cost carriers. All the carriers have to match the models set by Southwest and Air Tran to survive / compete. Wonder how the wages of the discount carriers match those of Northwest? Pilot salaries are dropping why shouldn’t the mechanics? These are tough times.
