American Eagle desparate for pilots

American Eagle has informed employees to refer their friends for pilot positions. American Eagle is currently short staffed and are expecting to have 450 captain positions open up to do American Airline pilots returning to AA. AMR corporation has anounced that American Airlines will begin recalling furloughed pilots as of Jan 2007. For those of you who are interested you can apply at www.aa.com by clicking American Eagle careers link. Good luck.

AA is the last major to recall. I have a friend on the 75/76 and he was 100 numbers from upgrade before the cuts. Of course, we have TWA guys here who will never accept a AA recall unless the wheels fall off here. You just never know in this business.

Yes, but AA has some 2800 pilots on furlough, calling back some and getting them to actually return is going to take a while. I'd guess it will be a looooong while before the current trend is reversed and there is any upflow to AA from Eagle.

The upflow has already began. Most of the recalled pilots are deferring but the flow backs at Eagle can not defer unless they want to hold what their Eagle senority can hold and that is FO.

Yes, 3 of 346 leaving Jan 3 is the rumor. Possibly more on Jan 31. Feel the whiplash! The real problem is that we cannot upgrade FOs to replace them because we're too short of FOs (and evidently falling farther behind every month).

Granted it's a start, but don't be fooled. It will likely take 2-3 years for us to be rid of all the flowbacks.

Hmm. I wonder if the Eagle flowthroughs were treated with such warmth at AA when things were working in their favor?

Tell them to up the pay first. I'm not their biatch

Hell, I know a CFI that makes far more then he would if he went to work for American Eagle. They have an FO shortage because it is a lousy place to work. Not too difficult to figure out. Careerpilot posts this stuff weekly.

Eagle the Beagle

American Eagle is a crappy job.
No question about that. Just get hired
and get lots of Jet turbine time and leave.

perfect job for the low time pilot. Not my choice
of a job to retire at but get your time up and get something
better. I guess if you are looking for the PIC time Eagle
may not be a good choice. Most CFI's from my era weren't
even allowed to look at Turbine aircraft, let alone
Jets.
