US and AA....What happens next?

Just wondering what some AA and US guys think about what may happen with this "possible merger".

I don't see it happening.

How are you so sure?

One way or the other... if it does happen:

It would be no fun for anyone involved.

Me? I'm not sure at all. I feel very confident that Parker will try, but I'm not confident that it is the best for AA. He has been quoted as having to have labor on board, but couldn't give two cents about his own labor. He has been laughing all the way to the bank over the pilot's fight. He sued for a DJ after the Addington case was ruled not ripe, then has his lawyers argue why the Nic should be binding. In our "crew news sessions" he has for years said it was "the right thing to do to pay us all the same" all the while find every excuse not to. He has played us against each other. The F/As just overwhelmingly turned down their T/A without a seniority fight........

Parker acts in his best interest. It's been in his best interest to capitalize on his pilots division. He knows it's also now in his best interest to merge, so he'll try to do whatever is necessary for that.

Despite false claims otherwise by a certain AA management person, most pilots at AA would be willing to sit down with Parker vs. AMR's term sheet annihilation.

I understand that, and it may be in your best interest. I wonder if it will be in our best interests, despite some US pilots enthusiasm. If we can pull off a good deal for all of us, I'm in! Color me skeptical.

I'm thinking that the current US pilot's food fight will distract us to your benefit.

I know Swelbar is a love/hate relationship here, but this was a good post of his:
