Default SWA or fractional?

I am at a defining moment in my life where I could go with airline or fractionals. With the state of the industry, the only airline I'm seriously persuing is SWA, but several of the fracionals look really good. My wife is concerned about the lack of travel privalages with the fracs. We love to travel and would do alot of it on my time off. My question is, if I were blessed enough to have the choice, which direction would offer the better vacation/family travel? Does the pay rate at the fractionals outweigh the lack of travel privs?
Thanks. i'll post the same question in the "Fractional" section to get a balanced oppinion.

If at this stage of your career you have limited yourself to only one airline, go fractional. The odds of success at a major are clearly against you with only one airline on your list. Good Luck!

Well, if you get on with SWA you'll make more than enough money to buy tickets to travel wherever you want!

Where's the decision? Get the job offer at BOTH and then make up your mind. Not having a job offer at either or just one makes life a lot easier.

Bottom Line: Apply to all, take the first job offered, and continue interviewing if you're not happy with your first choice.

Last count I had 9 apps out there and haven't even considered Fractionals! But If I did, the only one would be ExecJet International - BCD

I'm in the same position. I have the mins to apply to Continental, SWA, etc, but I'm more interested in the flying at the fracs...NJA (and what I believe to be better stability)...

So I am holding out from applying to the 121s, until I meet the mins for the fracs and see if they are interested.... if not, I'll be putting those 121 apps in.

I think its obvious that SWA pays a hell of a lot more than any fractional... in fact long term income potential is way better at SWA... but for me, I think I'll like the 7-7 schedule better, and the lack of a commute.

Good luck

Keeps us posted on your process.

I do agree with not limiting yourself, however, it would be heartbreaking to have your heart set on and invest time in a company that will probably be belly up or absorbed by another(e.g. JB, Spirit, Airtran etc). These are all speculation, but IMHO, in the not so distant near future, SWA will be one of few(if not only) LCC around.

I wouldn't say "a hell of a lot more" - figure it out. 10 yr CA for SWA on reserve $183,912 (I guess that's current pay), 10 year reserve CA for NJTS on the 2000 $198,360.

Maybe I will send that app in now!! - BCD
