Default SkyBus Order

Skybus orders 65 jets from Airbus
Columbus-based startup airline’s order could be worth $3 billion, some estimate
By Marla Matzer Rose
The Columbus Dispatch

Skybus Airlines, a Columbus carrier that expects to start flying next year, has signed a contract to buy 65 jets from Airbus.

The French aerospace company called the order one of the largest it has ever received from a startup U.S. airline.

The deal calls for Skybus to begin receiving the A319 planes in late 2008. The plane typically holds about 130 passengers.

I was under the impression that the DOT was still reviewing their application for economic authority to be an airline. This was due to conflict in their filing regarding financing.

One industry expert is much more skeptical.

"They might want to call the bankruptcy attorneys right now," said Mike Boyd of the Boyd Group, an aviation consultancy in Colorado. "If the rumors we're hearing about them flying to secondary cities and flying connecting flights through Columbus are true, I just don't see it.
who goes to columbus?
