It sure is. I still can't believe how those guys think they should be allowed to stay in those seats past Age 60 when everyone ahead of them had to retire at that age.

You're going to have to expand upon how the train wreck of the Age 60 retirement being changed to Age 65 in the "experienced pilots act" is any sort of a sense of entitlement for me or lolwut.

 

Next week is still "a long time before it actually happened."

 

Let me ask you this...what exactly was promised to you when you started on the long road to being an airline pilot? Was there a legal document that you signed granting you a certain seniority by a certain stage in your career? If not, you have/had an expectation that no longer exists and, therefore, you are not happy. Fine. But blaming guys who also had an expectation that they could actually retire comfortably one day which also no longer exists strikes me as selfish and naive.

 

Yes there was. The legal document is called 14 CFR. It mandated a retirement age of 60. The same legal document you benefited from your whole career. It formed one of the basic tenets of this job.

Then a bunch of greedy pilots managed to get that legal document changed against the wishes of the majority for their own selfish benefit.

Actually, it hasn't benefited me my whole career....I'm fairly junior at Delta. I just don't blame the senior guys for my plight. I walked into this career eyes wide open. It doesn't have to be anybody else's fault.

Basic tenets change. Just ask the guys who were told they'd have a retirement they could live on. You call them "greedy," I call them "surviving." Laws change all the time, hell, if you're gay you can get married now. At least you got that going for you.

9/11. The industry changed forever. All bets are off. I bet if you were one of the guys who survived all of that industry turmoil and lost your ass financially you'd have a completely different perspective. You see yourself as the victim. News flash, they feel pretty victimized themselves. And, no, I'm not one of them.

Yeah, I think you and Clamp have a sense of entitlement that, apparently, doesn't jive with today's realities. Oh well.

You must be one of those who begrudge the 1% for maybe working hard and earning what they have. Class warfare Maximus! I was never taught to be jealous of what other people have.

Some folks are lucky and others are...............whiners. I personally have been very fortunate and hopefully will not have to endure a "game changing event" during my career. Advances in health and careful living have in fact changed the game also.

You are in fact claiming a sense of entitlement which will make your life miserable. It ain't changing back and if it does change it probably won't be a happy day for you and others who blame many who never fought for age 65. Your happiness is in your hands. Just saying!

BTW, I and many others am planning to retire when I don't enjoy working anymore. Too many people got into this industry because they thought they would make a good living (i.e. greedy people). Now they are disappointed because it did not turn out so great and they really don't like to fly. While I thought that I might make some good coin, I still enjoyed flying every time I got the chance.
