Hey just wondered if anyone had the number to call for Airtran? Also I heard there is some special procedure for using them. Anyone want to run me through all of it I need it for tomorrow 11/14/06 thanks.

Airtran will charge you about $31 (after taxes) for every "jumpseater" after the first one arrives. The captain can waive this, but if you didn't catch him ahead of time, you're not makin' it past the gate without swiping your credit card. One of the main reasons I don't count on Airtran to get me anywhere...

Not a bad deal when you consider that they don't have unlimited JS. Maybe an Airtran guy could check me on this.

This policy is pure bull$hit.
For years we had a very liberal open/unlimited jumpseat policy. We would basically take anyone and everyone.
After 9/11 our greedy management came up with a new policy of 1 off line jumpseater. Any additional offline jumpseaters have the option to purchase a $25 pass from the gate agent.
I always ask jumpseaters if they've been charged, and most of the time they aren't. Most agents don't want to deal with it and just stick them on somehow.
