I don't even bother with announcements anymore. nothing worse than the d-bag who has to get on and give us a tour of the USA along with his stellar flying career summary, all while I was watching a football game on the seat back TV.

When flying out of JFK we always flew over the East Texas VOR, which I think is somewhere in northern New York? Anyway, it was always funny to see people scratch their heads when the captain would say our routing took us over East Texas on our way from JFK to somewhere close by up north.

B) What's a seat back TV? Is this one of those fancy things the non Douglas airplanes have?

A) I agree. The only time I really want to do a PA is when I know they want to hear from me. The only good PA is the Captains prior to push if they do it. I do take a moment when I tell people to remain seated as we're rolling into the gate with no rampers to mention we are 10, 15, 20 or Newk early. And on the before takeoff I'll slip in an "expect an on time arrival" in there. But basically, despite my love of hearing me talk I know people don't want to hear me talk. I don't blame them. They get enough PAs from the FAs.
