United Domestic 777
#1
For planning purposes, what kind of domestic flying is done by the United 777 bases? I'm just curious because they keep telling us at (L-CAL) that we're going to mix metal soon and we just added our domestic Jepp charts. I'm a big fan of just doing international on the L-CAL side and I'd like to know what we may be getting into once our SLI is completed. So if you L-UAL folks could list some pairings/flight ID's it'd be appreciated. Thanks

Depends on the base, out of ord there are 2 day id's that are ord den leave around 656pm home around noon. There is also some ord iad at times. Equipment subs to lax and sfo. Once a week dh kona fly back and hnl daily if you consider those domestic. There are also some den 1 day turns at times. During bowl season there are a mixed bag of football charters.
Not looking forward to the metal mix but that covers most of ord domestic.

I don't think you'll see any mixed flying until after the SLI, and that will be July at the earliest and more likely August or September bid months. There isn't any significant domestic 777 flying, mostly just repositioning to international gateways rather than domestic markets that need a 777 gauge aircraft. After the SLI, you'll ditch Jepps and carry an iPad so don't worry about charts.

I totally agree that we won't mix until the SLI is done. The jokers in IAH wanted us to fly mixed metal by March 2013. They seem to think that the SLI was going to be magically done overnight.

If the jokers are management, I guess they get to wait on ALPA for a change. Now that they're paying the new rates, I'm sure they'll want all the benefits of a merger ASAP. It will be interesting to see how fast an IT company with wings can program the bidding programs for a mixed fleet to make mixed scheduling work.
I'll put my guess out there: No earlier than Dec. 2013.
